Hello! I’m Giannis, and I’m excited to invite you to join me on an unforgettable journey through Athens! With a passion for both the city’s rich history and its vibrant culinary scene, I strive to provide an exceptional experience that delights all your senses.
As your guide, my goal is to create a memorable adventure filled with stories, culture, and, of course, delicious flavors! Whether we’re strolling through ancient streets or sampling mouthwatering local dishes, you can expect a dynamic and engaging experience that showcases the very best of Athens.
I take pride in crafting tours that cater to the unique interests of each group, ensuring that everyone feels included and inspired. My extensive knowledge of Athens allows me to bring the city to life, making history and culture accessible in a fun and enjoyable way.
Join me as we explore the fascinating landscape of Athens, one bite and one story at a time. I can’t wait to share this incredible city with you and create lasting memories together!
See you soon in Athens!
Step into the heart of Athens and experience the city in a way most visitors never do. We’ll kick things off in Thiseio, with the iconic Acropolis towering above us. From the very first step, the ancient marble streets come alive, telling stories that no guidebook can capture — the stories of the city’s soul.
Next, we’ll take a relaxing walk up Filopappou Hill, a hidden gem offering stunning panoramic views of both the Acropolis and the city below. It’s the perfect spot to pause, breathe, and soak in the beauty of Athens from above.
As we wander through Plaka, the “Neighborhood of the Gods,” you’ll be enchanted by its charming neoclassical buildings and colorful bougainvillea draped over cobblestone streets. Then we’ll slip into Anafiotika, a secret Cycladic village tucked on the Acropolis slopes, where whitewashed houses and narrow alleys make you feel like you've been transported to a Greek island.
In Monastiraki, we’ll pass legendary spots like the Ancient Agora, Roman Agora, Hadrian’s Library, and Socrates’ Prison. We won’t go inside, but the rich stories of emperors, philosophers, and revolutionaries will come to life through vivid tales that will make you feel as though you're walking in the footsteps of history.
Next up: Psirri. This neighborhood is where old-world charm meets cutting-edge creativity, with street art, live rebetiko music, and cozy local cafés. Along the way, we’ll stop at special spots with breathtaking views of the Acropolis — the perfect photo ops!
But this tour isn’t just about sights — it’s about feeling Athens. It’s a deep dive into the city’s history, culture, food, and music, where you won’t just see Athens… you’ll live it.
We’ll finish up at a hidden, family-run tavern, known only to locals. No tourists, no menus — just authentic mezedes (small plates) shared like Greeks do, with laughter, wine, and the warmth of home.
This isn’t something you could experience on your own — it’s Athens, as only a local can show you.
Come hungry, because we're about to embark on a delicious journey through the heart of Athens! We’ll kick things off at one of my favorite local bakeries, where you’ll get to try some of the best Greek pies — flaky, savory pastries stuffed with rich fillings, straight out of the oven.
Next, we’ll make our way to Athens' oldest koulouri shop, where you’ll enjoy the iconic sesame bread ring — a crunchy, slightly salty snack that’s a local favorite and perfect for munching on the go.
We’ll stroll through the bustling flea markets, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city, before stopping for a cup of traditional Greek coffee, brewed the old-school way in sand. For the kids or anyone who’s not in the mood for coffee, we’ll grab a refreshing, local drink to keep you cool.
Feeling the vibe? We’ll stop next for a classic Greek souvlaki — juicy grilled meat, wrapped in a warm pita with tangy tzatziki and fresh veggies. It’s the ultimate street food, and you won’t find anything quite like it back home.
But the best part? We’re heading to a hidden gem of a family-run tavern where we’ll feast on a variety of mezedes (small plates). These are traditional Greek dishes, made with love, and we’ll share them like true locals. Think of it as a Greek-style family dinner with endless flavors to try!
To wrap it all up, we’ll finish with loukoumades — fluffy Greek doughnuts drenched in honey and sprinkled with walnuts. Sweet, sticky, and totally irresistible, it’s the perfect ending to our culinary adventure.

Thank you so much to Giannis for a fabulous tour of Athens. We learned so much in a limited amount of time. He told us about the history of Athens dating back 2,500 years and brought it right up to current times. We learned about history, food, family, and Greek traditions. We seen the busy city and was then brought to historical ruins and nature in a peaceful park area. We started in the daylight and toured till after dark which gave us different perspectives of the city. We ending our tour with a wonderful outdoor dinner at a local non touristy restaurant with Giannis choosing all tradition Greek dishes for us to try. Giannis did much to make our experience a memorable one. I only wish we had more days with him at Athens.Posted on Olga Plotkin29/09/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Giannis shared his love of Athens and its food with us in the best way. A leisurely walk through the sites while telling us fun, factual, and detailed information was just what we were looking for. He took us to spots only the locals are normally seen. Overlooks of the Acropolis and Parthenon, meat and seafood markets, quiet streets, busy streets, a bakery, the agora’s, and a coffee shop. We had an amazing time chatting and getting to know him and his city. Highly recommend!Posted on Ron Drylie24/09/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Giannis is a gem in Athens. 💎🇬🇷Posted on Michael Morton20/09/2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We spent a full day with Giannis on a walking tour of Athens to just explore the food and an 'off the beaten path' tour. He was an amazing host of his city. Our first stop was at his favorite bakery, Dimou, in his neighborhood. We sampled some spinach pie, cheese pie and bougatsa with freddo espresso and cappuccino. We has some amazing views of the historical sites and then has some small bites of local Greek favorites at several different places as well as a surprise stop at a middle eastern place, Feyrouz, to have some lahmatzun and a nice white wine from Corfu that was amazing. We visited several open markets and was able to sample and buy olives like a local! They vacuum packed them and all 23 kilos got back intact! I would highly recommend Giannis for a personalized tour of Athens that is not the typical high profile tourist sites that you can get from anyone. He is very engaging, knowledgeable and just an overall nice guy. I know for our next trip to Athens we'll take another tour with him.
